Just seeing what can be achieved with digital B&W at the moment. Prints are at last turning out how I want them on Bockingford Inkjet Watercolour Paper. Takes a lot of computer work to get a B&W feel to the print without a colour tone.

This is good John. Detail in the shadows. Quite hard to achieve and get the right balance as you say. Nice work
Very nice indeed, the B/W conversion has been handled very well...

B&W conversion has worked well I think, I think compositionally I would want some stronger foreground elements in there but it definately works well. Have you tried split toning?
Good job on converting this! I like general composition, but I do agree with Dave, that something stronger in the foreground would be nice.

Hi John,
Lovely image, maybe something stonger in the FG would help.
What part of the Dart was this?
Thanks and Regards
Chris.

That looks like my favourite part of the Dart - wonderful place and if I don't get out there often enough I start to go crazy - lovely sense of atmosphere and b&w works well.

This is the Nat Trust woods on the Dart about 400m upstream from Holne Bridge near Ashburton. Nice easy access and parking. Also a very good area for fungi images when it gets a bit wetter.

Hi John,
Thanks very much for the location and info. I'm moving near to Torquay so am trying to find local nature 'hot-spots'.
If you PM me I will let you know some good areas in S Devon.

I really like this, I don't think it needs anything stronger in the foreground as it would overpower the rest of the details contained within the frame, B&W is perfect too.

Might be good to compliment this shot with a colour version, when the leaves are in full autumn colour, although it works nicely in b&w
