Greetings from Colorado! In about 10 days the leaves will be gone here and the tourists will be gone as well so I'll finally be able to get away from my gallery and take a vacation. My wife has made a two night reservation at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in their yurts, three nights in Yachats and two nights in the Columbia River Gorge. We should be in OR from the 19th to the 26th. I know that these may not be the prime photography locations as this is mostly a family vacation, but I'm wondering if you can suggest anywhere near Yachats or Umpqua Lighthouse that are particularly good photography locations? Thanks!

Yachats will give you prime access to some great coastline opportunities. That is personally one of my favorite places to stay.

You'll be in the window for some nice Fall color in the Gorge, though on the front end (by about a week). If you've never been there and are staying on a weekday, try the classic Multnomah-Wahkeena loop. Lots of fall color and waterfalls along a 5+ mile loop, plus a nice place for dinner at Multnomah Falls Lodge. Very busy on weekends, however.

Not prime locations??? Someone's been spiking your cheerios!

The Gorge is good almost anytime of year, and should be near peak color, or just barely past peak, while you are here. The waterfalls along the Historic Highway will certainly give you plenty of photo ops.
