Tis the season for spider web photos - here is a snapshot of mine from this morning and it would be great if others could post what they are getting. One great thing about doing spider web images this time of the year is that since the orb weaver spiders are so plump and juicy you can collect them as you go along and then fry up a nice mess of them for breakfast when you get home!

Tim, I like the graphic nature of the web. How did you get the black background? Spiders for breakfast, the breakfast of champions, yum.

You certainly did a nice job with this one. I took a few shots a couple of weeks ago that I'll post later today, but the web wasn't nearly this large. I've always found them to be a real challenge, since getting the sensor plane parallel with the web isn't always the easiest thing to do...and the slightest breeze wrecks everything sometimes.
As far as breakfast goes, I think I'll stick to bicuits and gravy!
The spider web was lit from the side by the rising sun and there was a heavy shadow on the background - that background was easy to drive to black in levels. I hear that real men pop those orb weavers in their mouths raw as they hike along, but I've never run with that crowd!

You know - there's an urban legend that says all of us eat about 8 spiders a year. I'm assuming that they're talking about spiders that have been ground into the food production system somehow and that we occasionally consume minuscule spider bits . Odd legend - don't know if it's true.
