The Bradgate Rut
For those considering the journey to Bradgate this weekend, whilst there are oportunities to be had (see above), the rut is still not in full swing and a lot of the deer are staying out of bounds deep in the woodland. Those that are venturing out are dissappearing quite quickly when the dog walkers appear (about 7.45am), sunrise is about 7am, so be early

Please don't hound the deer and don't herd them about with your movements.

600mm/Tpod
400'/F4/400ASA
normal PS and a 10% crop of FF

No bracken where I'm at deer, but no camera either

Strange that the rut is well on up here Tom. Stags at the beginning of the week were well run over the w/e and are now going at it full tilt. Should be finished with us by the end of next week.

We've had three nights with frost which has helped this year.

As to the shot?
It's all right, and probably says more about Bradgate than stags as I know them.

These are sheltered woodland Deer, not windswept hill Deer. There hasn't really been a good frost here yet.

"Very Duran Duran" :jump: :jump: :jump: hehehehe...i'm tempted to say something sarcastic about the 80's but i know it would only be a reflection of my inability to cope with growing old.

nice image.
