I've often said that if I were to ever leave Colorado, it would have to be to move to the Northwest or New England - some place with mountains, ocean and rain. Looks like it's going to happen. My wife has landed a great opportunity to transfer from the Denver office of the Federal Highway Administration to the office in Vancouver, WA. I was able to stay with GE and transition over to an office in Salem, OR.

So, we'll be moving out to Oregon, most likely ending up in the Tualatin area. I make the move first, arriving in early November. Jennifer will follow a month or so later.

Not sure I can bring myself to give up my RMNP participation, but hopefully dual citizenship is okay. I've done a little shooting with folks here on my periodic trips to Portland and lurk here when I'm not on RMNP. Although leaving CO behind will be tough, I can't think of a better place to end up - with regards to both Portland and PNWNP! I'm looking forward to shooting and posting with you!

The Pacific NW doesn't have any rain.

Welcome aboard!

Rick, you'll certainly enjoy it here, and it will be great to see some of your work on this forum too. It's a great group of guys and gals here. If you end up in Tualatin, we'll practically be neighbors. Look me up.

Rick,
I live in Tigard which is almost joined with Tualatin. It's a nice area but the traffic really sucks especially during the morning and evening commute. Your wife will have a rougher commute than you unless she has to be at work before 7:30 am. Looking forward to meeting you.

Good deal, Rick, I can't wait to see you out here!

Welcome aboard Rick! I live in Tigard as well, just a hop skip and jump from Tualatin. It will be nice to have yet another talented photographer in the area. Just have to find a way to get used to the rainy season, I ski/snowboard and rock climb at a climbing Gym to stave off insanity in the winter

Oh yeah and try to get out and photograph during the breaks in the rain cycle

Rick - We are switching areas. I am still up here in the NW, but ours plans are still to move south to Arizona. We are hoping that things will come together for a move sometime this fall, all is still up in the air at this time.

If I am still in the area when you arrive I would love to get together again for another shoot. I enjoyed spending time with you a couple years back at the Japanese gardens. Welcome to the NW! :wavey:

Welcome to the PNW - I think you'll like it here. Not a huge adjustment from Colorado except that things are a lot closer together

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'll liklely be setting up temporary living in Tigard, and, if all goes well, we're lining up on a home in King City. We took a trip out there a few weeks ago for house-hunting and to test out the commutes. Jennifer is a very early riser - works out great for commuting and - most importantly - for carrying my gear during sunrise shoots!

Elizabeth, going from the NW to Arizona - that's quite the change! We share a similar climate with AZ here in CO, just not quite as hot. I'm sure that you know it's a beautiful landscape - the colors and textures of the desert will be a great palette for your artwork. Once I get settled out there, I'd love to get together again and do some shooting.

Thanks again everyone!

Rick,

I just moved here too from the Midwest ( My wife is from Seattle and we've been here many many times) Needless to say, its a great place to be and all the NPN'ers I've met so far are wonderful.
I am also in Tigard. We should all have a get together sometime???

Thanks again everyone! t-minus 3 weeks. Someone beat us to the house we were eyeing up - those retirees in King City are pretty competitive! - so we're starting the search over, still in Tualatin/Tigard/King City. On the bright side, apartment living will mean no house projects for a while, so I can focus on exploring the area.

And, yes, I was "kicked out" - i.e., duped a couple buddies into - moderatorship duties.
