Following on from Toms post the state of the Rut in Richmond Park appears to be similar, there are some magnificent stags around so by the next meet it should all be good......
Here is an image from early this morning... close to the location where I am proposing we meet...
All the best

A very nice proud looking stag you've got there Phil, I was going to be there today, but a migraine got in the way unfortunately, still theres always tomorrow.
The good quality van/cafe is still open, hopefully it will be next month too.
All the best

Hi Phil. Nice one. He is impressive. How are the restrictions down there? I read on the website that they have "foot & mouth precautions" and that you weren't allowed to leave the footpaths? If all's well, then I'll head down there this week.
For the most part any foot and mouth precautions are a little but further down the A3, the park has warning notices but given its enclosed nature it is not going to be a problem really.....
No problems leaving the footpaths..... But I think we are looking at another two weeks for the Rut proper......
Can't make up my mind if the antler is a fraction close to the left edge of the frame, but a fine shot either way

Hi All,
Was at Richmond Park today - weather was naff! The rut seems to have started though. The dawn chorus was amazing with over a dozen stags roaring. Saw plenty of head thrashing, hind chasing, and heard one clash of antlers. This weekend should be good as long as we have a few crisp nights.
That is good to hear, remarkable the difference a couple of days makes..... were you in the Pen Ponds area Elliott?
Will next be visiting on the 21st so looking forward to it....
All the best

Yep. Parked in the Pen Ponds car park and had a wonder across to White Lodge and Duchess Wood. Was there at dawn but the sky was so dull, I gave up and went for some breakfast. Its been a while since I have been to Richmond and I was very glad of the new hot food kiosks! Went back and parked at Robin Hood Gate, walked East and found a very obliging stag with 3 hinds. He roared a lot and posed with his gals!
