For those of you out and about be sure to have a look down at your feet - there is a great crop of mushrooms that have popped up this past week after all the rain - all of them I've seen so far have been yellow - so it looks like this is our best bet for fall color to date!
One of the best mush shots I've seen! The ones I find are always so beat up...Any water left in the creeks after the rain?

I saw some of those yesterday morning, but had to get back to work. This morning, I photographed them, but they were kind of beat up by then. I haven't even downloaded them yet.
I went back to this patch this afternoon and spent two hours there - there were about 200 mushrooms in groups of 10-15. It is going to take me a week to see all that I got, but here is one cropped image - you should see even this cropped part at 100% (shot with a 39mp back) - holy fungus! And this was with natural lighting, which kept changing every moment or two (the sun was going in and out of thin and then thick clouds).
Tom - YES, lots and lots of green! I did see a couple of black gums this morning that were blood red - only about six weeks behind. Actually in the overall scene if the light is just right and you squint just a little bit there is a hint of yellow all over. It is going to be a very yellow fall I think...

Tim - to borrow a cooking analogy, you've shown once again that an exquisite dish can be made from the simplest of ingredients!
