From today's visit to thompson lake in Norfolk,my only nit is the veg near the fish at the top, could'nt clone it though wthout losing the droplets.

Nice capture, looks like you had low light.

One thing, this image, when i looked at it, i thought it was a Nikon shot, looks pretty noisy in the OOF areas. Is it me or is the 40D prettyclose to the D200's noise characteristics.

Well timed shot Stu!!

Might be tempted to persist in attempting to clone the oof reed by the beak, to polish it off.

May be my screen, but it appears to have a slight magenta cast, and if corrected, should enhance the green rendering of the water and reduce the slight noisy appearance in that area at the same time.

Nice low angle and nice catch - didn't notice the magenta to start with but thought it needed a touch more USM - but that will increase the noise....!

Thanks for the comments and pointers,I have used the remove colour cast tool in elements and lowered the saturation on the magenta chanel and it does make it look better, thanks.

Cant coment on the D200,but the noise is very evident in all my shots from yesterday, running high ISO upto1250,in grey and flat lighting,I would expect this though and need to invest in neatimage or similar.

Hi Stuart

This looks much better, I have found a cooling effect with the 40D at 800iso. But I have also found that the noise levels are quite low.

Definate improvement Stu!

I suspect that someone with more PS skills than myself could further tweak the result, to counteract the dull-light effect, although i suspect neatimage/noise ninja etc would be essential {i don't feel i could manage without that added option from 400iso upwards, in many cases}.
