Cascade Pass
This photo is from a trip I took to North Cascades National Park in August. I was wondering if I could do anything to improve the image and if anyone knew the name of the flowers.

Thanks

Hi Robert - Loveland, eh? I used to live up that way, near Mariana Butte. I was sad to leave; I like the laid back, more rural feel.

Really nice scene here. Sorry, but I'll be of no help on the flower ID. As far as improving the image, it would help to know the technical details of how it was made - camera, lens, aperture, ISO, post-processing details if relevant, etc. The image appears very soft, especially in the foreground. It has the feel of an image that has had more noise-reduction performed on it than it could withstand and still retain detail. Could also be wind moving the flowers since there appears to be good detail in the trees and mountains; if that's the case, then a little sharpening should crisp things up nicely. Colors and contrast look great.

Good luck with the flower ID!

Image details

Canon 5D
28-70 L @ 40MM
ISO100 1/4 @ F22
It was a little windy when it was taken. I converted the raw image in the post processor without any modification.

Nice comp and cool flowers. Not sure on the ID either though. My nits would be that the clouds are very hot due to the time of day this was taken, and for some reason the shadow areas in the patch of flowers look unnaturally brightened and kind of "murky." Not sure if you lightened this part of the image in post processing, but some blacks are OK, and would be expected during the time of day this was shot. As you say also the wind could have been a culprit in the slight lack of sharpness in the foreground.

I'll give a shout out to Loveland since it's my hometown. :toast:
