Hi!
A photograph of an African Crowned Crane I took at the weekend. I finally purchased a 500mm lens and thought I'd take it out to Edinburgh Zoo for its first use.
Hand held at 1600 ISO, so the shot is a little grainy, but overall I'm quite happy with it.
Just looking for some general feedback to get me started.
Thanks,
Bryan

I think if you are looking for cc I think you need to put all the techs of the shot in with the post, also try to get the picture on the page it saves using a link to view.
It looks good to me, you seem to have nailed the exposure blacks and whites all seem to be there maybe a tweak in curves though to give it a bit more contrast.
Regards
Brian

Nice sharp detail around the eye Bryan and the comp is quite striking - breaks the rules a bit, but quite pleasing all the same
Shame you ran out of DoF, the white cheek is blown and yet the black crest is clogged too - that's a sign that the subject brightness range (SBR) is way outside the DR of the camera - I used to have a D200 that would do this often, hence I got rid of it.
You don't give your full techs for this shot - always include them in full as it helps viewers critique your image better

Thanks for the replies. I'll post the tech details when I get home and can check the RAW files.
