I think I may have covered the entire west side of Mt. Hood today....the clouds were nice and overcast which made for some great lighting in and around the roads and streams of the forest....
I decided to hit my new favorite road since winning with Canopy of Color last year.....I was up there a week ago and it was totally green. As I was over by Trillium lake I noticed the great colors all around and thought what the heck....the color is really exploding up there now and I suggest you make it up that way fast...the streams are brilliant with color.
This time the rain was at bay and the wind was calm, I had time to set up a tripod and make some good proper exposures....once again I had some nice filtered light that made the scene really come alive...
Here is the 2007 Version of Canopy of Color!

I think I'm spoiled by the original... this one just doesn't have the same punch...

So Darren, here's a stab in the dark: is that the road that climbs up Last Chance Mountain?

Darren,
No reason to try this shot over. I don't think you can improve on the original.

It does look great but have to agree that the contest winner is the best!
