Hi,

Will be staying in the Midlands (between Worcester and Kidderminster) sometime in the first two weeks of next month. I have already highlighted Gigrin Farm, Slimbridge, and Bradgate Park...

Looking for other suggestions for sites locations....

All the best

Hi Phil,

I'm working up in the midlands at the moment staying in Coventry, not actually been due to work commitments, but this place looks promising (coombe abbey cp):

As does this( brandon marsh):http://www.brandonbirding.co.uk/index.asp

Sandwell Valley, both the RSPB reserve and the parks around can be good. There is a heronry in the park.

I have not found either Brandon Marsh or Coombe Abbey to be any good for photography (this might be because I am useless :) )

Cheers all information is greatly appreciated.... It has been a long time since I was in the area... I was brought up there and my mother still lives there, just outside Stourport... I actualy worked at one of the oldest photographic studios in the UK that was based in Malvern Link.... It is just that I am no longer that familiar wih the region so your help and suggestions are greatly appreciated...

All the best

Phil

Hi Phil,
Brandon Marsh (mentioned above) has a Kingfisher or two that are regular visitors to the Carlton hide. Last year the staff have postioned a branch for them to alight on where they could be photographed against a green reedbed (from left hand side of the hide) with a 600. This year, rather imaginatively in their eyes, they've introduced a "No Fishing" sign
Between 12:45 and 13:30 was the hot time last year.
The area covered by the Carlton hide was also patrolled occasionally by Hobbies although I suspect you are a little late for those.
Unfortunately I have no great location advice for you in the Midlands, I'm still looking for one myself! :frown:
Personally I like Norfolk as a location.

Many Regards

JohnS
