Had one of my senior moments when I took this.
A pair of Kestrels were working the side of the old runway.
Flying along and evey now and then dropping down on what appeared to be insects of some description.
For some reason I had finished up with my 1.7 conv on the 600.and even though I was staring at an odd apeture setting it hadnt dawned on me until I tried to go down to f5.6 and it was having none of it.
As it was it did me a big favour as probably I would not have considered the combination for the subject in question.
Gausian blur added to image in NX and then removed from the bird for obviuous reasons.

Major.

Its a great moment to capture. I think I can see the Gausian on the feather tips, but if you had not said anything, I would not have looked for it. :toast: :toast:

Forgot to comment on the hunting - The year before last I did a study of the kestrels on Hampstead Heath. Their favourite prey was grasshoppers, beetles, small lizards and the occasional mouse. They would land on the ground, only metres away from walkers and hunt through the grass like a goshawk. :wavey:

Nice action capture Major, and a good comp :toast:

Glad to see someone else has senior moments too - except I think I'm too young to have 'em, so I might be in big trouble
