Taken yesterday in Mountain Home State Forest....it was sunny when we first arrived.

The dogwoods in this area were mostly still green only about 10% were showing nice red color...so maybe a couple more weeks before the show really gets going in the Southern Sierra.

great shot Michael. I've never heard of Mountain Home State Forest. This is in the Sierra?

Thanks Richard!

AKA Balch Park - Southern Sierra just east of Porterville ( my home town)
Wonderful Sequoia Groves & Dogwoods, there are three little ponds, backcountry trailheads, etc. It's off the beaten path a little...but the locals use it to death in the summer. I often remove trash & debris before photographing the ponds. In fact I removed a broken metal folding chair from the bank in this scene. Early Spring and Fall are probably the best times to visit, we went to all three ponds and only saw 4 people all afternoon. The Road closes at the end of Oct and doesn't reopen until May.

Michael,

This is outstanding. I like that the fog occupies the upper left, creating a bit of mood for this colorful and well composed image. Nicely seen. The Sequoia is magnificent.

Hi Michael,

Sorry for getting into this so late. This photo has such a tranquil feel about it. Like time has stopped in that place or something. The fog adds a nice touch and provides a nice balance to the darkness in the lower right corner. Really well done.

Gorgeous shot Michael. Love the fog in the upper left, adds a great deal of depth to an already deep photo.

This is real nice, Michael! The depth is wonderful and the muted color gives an almost mystical feel. Well done!
