Hi all

Brought my cam to Nikon, told 'em what's wrong, they fixed something else (which was working perfectly before, and is working perfectly now) and made me pay for it (well, I sort of paid before I found out...). Any chance of getting my money back (or the cam repaired)? Does anybody have any experience with something as stupid as that?

Reminds me of the story of the dude who went in for a hip replacement.

They did the wrong side.

Well, I guess I'd rather have them mess with my cam than with my joints.

Well, in some hospital situations now they have the patient draw on themselves before going to operating room to prevent mistakes (the assumption is that the patient knows exactly which side the problem is on). Maybe you need to put little marker or post-it notes on your camera when you send it in?

Well, that's the point, I didn't send it in! I was there, with the camera, and pointed on that wheel, and said: This thing doesn't work! And they still screwed it...

Wow....I'd think you could certainly take it in and get it fixed for no further charge. I'd think Nikon would actually fix what you took it in for if you let them know what happened. I hope that works out for you Basil.

Got a reply from Nikon. I'll send it in again, and they'll a) repair it, and the money I paid will be subtracted from the bill (if the new bill is higher than the old bill), or b) will refund my money in case I'm not willing to pay any additional cost. Option b) would still leave me with a partially working camera, but well, better that than a partially working camera and no money...

I'll keep you guys posted on what happens.
