Crazy Color/ Motion Experiment
OK...I guess it isn't that crazy. Anyway, last summer I was shooting in a flower garden at the coast. The light was full on with harsh shadows, so I wasn't having much luck. I decided to play with shutter speeds and motion. I found an aperture and ISO setting that gave me a shutter speed of about 1/15 sec and then just started shooting and moving my camera in spirals, pans, zig zags and so on. I took about 100 shots to get a couple that interested me. For this one I rotated the camera around a point (handheld). Other than a slight saturation bump, this is out of the camera. I think it might look cool blown up huge and printed on canvas. Just thought I'd share something a little different.

5D, 100mm f/2.8 macro, ISO 50, 1/15 sec @ f/16, handheld

I love these types of shots. Great color and lines too. I think big and on canvas would be a great idea. :toast:

Pretty colors. Nice arc. If I were going to display it to someone, I'd want there to be enough context for people to understand what it is. Standing by itself (without your little blurb), I'm not sure I'd personally spend any ink on it. If you were doing a slide show or a book, this might offer a nice way add some variety to more traditional images.

I think you have it right Sean. I can definitely see this large on canvas. A fine art piece it would be. I like this quite a bit, nice work!

Someone might buy this because it might match their curtains or something...but these are fun to play with and I think you did a pretty good job with these strokes. Like Sean said...a little bit more context might be better.

I actually like the lack of context in this one...more like a completely abstract painting. You know, like the guys who fling paint. No pretense about this being mistaken for any sort of respectable nature photo.
