this was very early this morning when I arrived at the lake. I could see the sun coming up from the east and so I tossed on a Polarizer filter to help bring the clouds out and the reflection a bit more in the water...
I metered on the light on the right and overexposed it by a stop and that helped to bring the darker mountain out while still leaving some detail in the trees near the water.
Nikon D70
Polarizer filter

F/5.6
ISO 200
White Balance set on Shade (to add warmth)
Thanks for looking and leaving a comment....I am a little unsure of this one because of how dark it is....
Does it work for you?

Spectacular Darren. I love the warm and mysterious look of this image. The reflection and whispy clouds are perfect as well.

I say the left is just a hair too dark but, dang, this is sweet, Darren!

The darkness on the left could maybe come down a bit but I am also fine with it as is. It's very dramatic this way. A very eye catching image from such a popular spot. Nice Darren!

Its stark, and very pretty. I"m not certain I like how dark the upper left is though.
I like it - something different. Quite a different look for a spot that is captured so often. For me, the dark UL is interesting as night changes into day. I don't suppose there were any stars in the sky?

Darren, unique,I like it. Have you considered using the technique where you bracket exposures then combine them in Photoshop?

Very graphic. I really like it. I might try selectively lightening it just a tad from the mountain, left as well.

Really magical image. I like the fact that the forest layer is totally black. It adds to the magic...

Excellent! Don't change a thing. Dark is normal and expected for early morning.

Love it but I'd even out the top Left a bit. Worth getting up for !!
