Hi there all
Just wondering if anyone could give me some advice with regards to tripod heads for manfrotto 055, at present i use a photo head and it is ok but want something with a bit more freedom of movement, have looked at the sidekick but not sure how it works, do i need a ball head??? i have the sigma 500 f4.5 so its not the biggest of them all but just wondered if you had any ideas
Thanks
Andy

If you were to put cost & easy use together then my advice would be the Manfrotto 393 head. Very versatile & affordable.
I hope this helps.

I use a Manfrotto 393 on my 055NAT3, and think its spot on. Stable and cheap by gimbal standards it does all i could ask of it.
My advice would be the Manfrotto 393 head and get the long plate.
Phillip.

Hi Andy
A bit late but I will also suggest the 393 head. I use one with my 190 tripod and I find it excellent for panning with as well as for static shots when you just need to support the lens and camera. I also have a ballhead but generally I prefer to use the 393.
