Hi folks,

Nancy & I spent last weekend shooting at Rialto Beach & Second Beach. This image was taken at Second Beach. The sunset didn't occur near the iconic "hole in the wall" at Second Beach so we were unable to get images of that at all. So instead we found this composition. I like the leading lines and the mix of warm versus cool.

Things I would do differently with this image would be to use both my 2-stop and my 3-stop to help brighten up the foreground better. I only used the 2-stop...

So lemme know what yall think!

And yet it gives a great feeling of a sunset and late in the day. Using the other grad would probably put this in the overuse grad spectrum like so many images that you see today.

Great use of constraint.

Rick,

First and foremost I'm glad to see you are out and about shooting.

Second, if you are looking for the iconic sunset through the hole shot, you may have better success during the first couple of weeks of July.

Third, I like the image.

Regards, Simon

Jim took the words right out of my "mouth".....the slightly dark FG is representative of the time of day....there is still detail for us to see in the rock, don't need any more than that.

It doesn't really scream 2nd beach to me, but it is a nice tranquil moment captured very well.
