Now these have just got to be my all time favourite.
To see a Stoat is magic but Weasels !!!!
They are just so hyper its not true.
I did it again and sat in my car bean bag on window but camera on passenger seat. Not good. As if by magic this little fella arrived.
It attempted to cross an open patch but shot back.
I squeaked at it and eventually it made a dash for it. Bang goes my chance I thought as it shot into cover.
I squeaked again and low and behold it popped its head up to see what all the racket was about. Slight problem as it was surrounded by rubbish.
I have tried all sorts of ways to make it look more appealing but alas my PS skills are not brill. Cropped to the vertical.

D2Xs + 600mm AFS II + 1.4 conv.
Bean bag & netting.

You could go a whole lifetime and never get a capture like this - very well done :toast: :toast:

Perhaps a little tiny bit of USM or smartsharpen perhaps?
A bit of careful layers work could soften the BG more too - but it's a belting shot Major - nice one :wavey: :wavey:

Very well caught Major, as you say, not too often seen, and rarely photographed.
Best wishes

Feel a bit embarrassed saying this but I met one at Beacon Hill (for those of who live near Loughborough area) last week and thought it was a Pine Martin, duh

At the time I was standing still listening to the birds, saw this little fella coming out of a bush next to me. At first I wasn't sure what it was, it then came closer & stopped next to my feet, stood up (the white furry chest was unmistakable), paused for a few secs & went off. There was nothing that I could do as my kit was in my rugsack!

I can only imagine how you felt Des.
All you can do is stand still and take in the treasure infront of you.

Hi Major,

Excellent work. Possible one of the most difficult UK subjects to photograph in the wild. They are blisteringly quick and tiny! I think you've done a grand job - I'd be well chuffed with this. :toast: :toast:

This is great... have tried these characters and failed miserably each and every time... well done, I like the way the secretive nature is portrayed here..
