Warts going on?
Hi All

Haven't posted for ages as I've been settling into a new job which has been busy over the summer. Some great stuff on here recently. I just got a new macro lens and tested it out in the garden this weekend. I was very happy to find this toad under some tarpaulin on the compost heap

Some of you might remember I posted a picture of a snake eating a gecko some time back? That picture won overall in the British Ecological Society's Annual Photo Competition which I am very pleased to announce

Comments appreciated on my first macro shots. Maybe more tomorrow.

Cheers
Matt

Canon EOS 30D, 60mm EF-S macro, hand held, 1/20 sec, no flash, ISO 500, f5.6. Some shadows and highlights in CS2 and USM.

He seems a smiley chap! Very good shot with nice selective focus, could do with alittle more DOField, the only possible thing I would suggest is cloning out the grasses on the left hand side.

Blimey, how close were you? I'd rework the image with more shadows as it looks a bit flat to me. If you have a subject head on, like here, I would try and get both eyes in focus. Not easy with macro I know, but it makes all the difference. Some form of support will help get the depth of field you need. Nice impact image though. :toast: :toast:

P.s. Great news on the competition - Well done!

I was only about 10cm away and he didn't move. Will try more shadows - I only have a laptop so can't always get the colours right first time.
