More painted hills...
It always seems to be a perfect stopping spot I'm when driving across Oregon. This is obviously from one of the standard viewpoints up by the bench. After 9 days of flat gray, rain and snow in Montana and Idaho, I was psyched just to see some light. It's not nearly the shot that many of you have, but I'm pleased with it. What's the name of the yellow shrub in the fg? Sage? Rabbit brush?

How's the color, contrast, cropping? Suggestions?

Pretty frackin great Sean! That is some sky!

It's really nice but are there too many elements? The bush seems to be crowding things.

Sean,
The sky makes this shot. I would crop out part of the foreground. The processing is spot on like most of your images. I think that bush is sagebrush.

agree with Erik, it is sage in bloom. The sky is super.

Yeah I agree with Erik on this one Sean - go for a more pano format on this. The sage bush - even in bloom isn't really helping here. Bring the bottom of the frame up 2/3 of the height of that bush.

That sky tho!! Delightful!!

I am not sure I'd crop this - if you do a "web crop" it doesn't seem to look that great with 1/2 the sagebrush missing. I would clone out the few scraggly tall grasses on the far Left - I think the shape of the slow will be more noticed without them.

I really like this and yes, that sky is stunning.

Not too busy for me, Sean - and I like your composition, too. Don't crop it! This is a magnificent image: gorgeous sky, and a much more interesting foreground and sense of landscape than the typical Painted Hills image. The sweep from yellows in the sagebrush to reds in the clouds is really nice. Nicely done!

This rocks Sean. I love the sky and sagebrush adding to the iconic hills. I do agree though, there is too much sagebrush and it over powers the hills. Twas me, I'd crop a bit of the bottom and the right to shrink it down a bit.
