Things I really really like :
-- In body IS/VR
-- Full Live View
-- Flip and twist screen
-- Huge viewfinder
-- Fast, low light autofocus system
-- Extra reach from 4/3rds
Thing I don't like :
-- $400 more than a 40D, and almost as expensive as a D300
I was hoping to be excited by the new Olympus E-3, since I like the 4/3 system idea. I love the new feature set on the E-3, but at $1700 for the body only, can it compete?
I don't know if it will. I was thinking that for $1200, I would have bought one (as my first SLR). At $1700? I don't think so.

I can assure you that that's a _very_ competitive price.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by that, Paul. "Competitive"? Sure - it's between the 40D and D300. But is that a slot where Olympus should have gone, when they are fighting an uphill battle for market share?
By the way, there's been a little more discussion in another E-3 thread someone else started, here. So you might want to take a look and comment there rather than here.
