This shot was taken on the way home from the get together in Lee Vining Canyon recently. As I mentioned to Preston in his recent post, I had just left and even before reaching the top, I had to pull over. This was one of the car pullouts at the top of the grade before getting to Ellery Lake.

I liked the side lighting hitting the steep mountain slope. Not sure if I've got the colors nailed down yet, but wanted to post anyway.

I stopped a couple of more times and didn't make it to Siesta lake for another 2 hours and got there about 30min too late... :-)

Anyway, just thought I would toss this up here. Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Lon

oh yeah, shot with the 450mm lens on 4x5

Excellent detail brought out by the fine light here, Lon. It always amazes me how various trees can cling to what seems like solid granite. The resulting sloping rock and evergreens amongst the snow is just super. The diagonal flow to the entire scene even adds more to the very graphic high altitude image. Excellent capture IMO.

My kinda place Lon... I love the high country! Love the diagonal lines and shadows.
I think it's suffering from tiny image syndrome...this needs to be viewed large!

What's that white stuff? Haha. That's some great side lighting Lon, definetly worth stopping for!

A beautiful take on one of my favorite locations. The light is really beautiful and I love how it is hitting the trees. The snow on the ground is a nice added touch. I am glad you pulled over and made this photo.

I have a photo of nearly the same location that I will share with you.

Regards.
