This is Squaw Rock in South Chagrin Res--NE OHIO.
I did a bit of scouting today. This will be a killer place to shoot in a week or so. It's just beginning to turn around this area.

I spoke to Mike Moats today. he's up shooting in the Travers City area in Michigan. He is seeing only spotty color. It's a very weird color fall around the Midwest.

I am enjoying my time back in old stomping grounds and hope you all get out to shoot some when the color finally goes nuts. I am afraid it might not last too long this year and if you get a windstorm forget it.

Jack - how long are you going to be up there for? I need to get some shooting in somewhere and Cleveland isn't too far...

Colors are sporadic here in southwest MI too, Jack. I found some areas yesterday that had a few trees in full color, while right next to those trees, some were solid green! We have not had the usual cold nights/warm days combinations this fall, which would explain the delay this fall, including the Traverse area.

Jack, et al, I spent a lot of last week in the Gaylord area of Michigan - pretty decent color there but even as little as 25-50 miles south you could see a big difference. The drive from the Indianapolis area up to Gaylord indicated to me that color was really only kicking in from about Grayling/Gaylord and north. Now back in the Indy area, and color is just now...barely....slowly starting to crank up. If the trees aren't too stressed from drought, we may have color into November this year (assuming no windstorms, as Jack mentioned).

Very slow year this year....CJ

Seems there is some color coming this way after all. Yesterday I drive about 10 miles south without seeing much color. Today, I drove north for about the same distance....just since this past Sunday, we're getting some great color where it was totally green 4 days ago. Bad news is, it's been very windy here today and storms coming across the lake at the moment. Hopefully enough leaves will stay on the trees for the weekend. I'm supposed to go on a color shoot Sunday!

Cool shot Jack, though it strikes me as just a touch dark...probably one of those personal preference things. I hope life is going well for you out west!

Joel,

Yup--this is more of a "snapshot"--I didn't spend much time with this one and it's already in the recycle bin.

COLOR TO PEAK HERE THIS WEEK..... I'm back to Oregon tomorrow.....out shooting here today. Believer it or not I really miss this place.
