This was taken a couple weeks ago during sunrise. This is obviously a heavy crop of the original. I decided on this crop instead of one with a little less clouds as I felt this added more mystery and tension to the scene. What do ya think?

Sorry to have missed meeting up with some of you while in the E.S.

In the Clouds and a Window On the West. That is what the cloud frame suggests to me. I love the sunrise color. I think the crop is just a tad too tight at the bottom, Cory. My eye wants to a bit more of the lower cloud bank. It's an interesting concept.

I hope you're feeling better!

Hey Cory, I like the pano look to this scene. The sliver of view here is very clear for such a dense cloud or fog bank laden area. Nice capture of this very wonderful site.
As a side not to us missing each other in the Buttermilks with my cellphone issues, I stopped there the morning you were out there and saw what had to be 50 people crawling all over the area. I could hear some workshop leader yelling at the top of his lungs to everyone in the area, "now don't packup just yet, the sun will be traveling down the side of the mountain further". I was already packed up and headed for the car as the light was HARSH as all get out by then. It gave me a good laugh anyway.

Thanks for commenting guys!
@ PB: yep, much better, but now the wifey is sick.
@Paul: I couldn't believe the number of photographers all over the place, many of whom were all setup at the same places of the same shot!! but once up in the canyon I didn't see too many.
@Richard: I thank me lucky charms!

Cory,

Awesome capture! If this doesn't fit the upcoming weekly challenge, I don't know what would. You should post it! This certainly gives me the feel of an eye opening, literally. Sweet morning light on the Sierra crest. Very cool.
