I shot this one with my Canon 5D a few weeks back. This is from that Saturday when there were gale force winds and great skies. Obviously I was no where near able to get up a LF for this shot. But I decided to setup my digital and give it a go. Look at the wind blowing the trees in this shot.

This has a very special glow about it, despite (because of?) the menacing clouds. I love this!

I don't see what the problem was. If you really wanted to, you could have used the 4X5. Just tie a boat anchor onto the tripod. Where's the dedication?
This is an atypical fall shot Rich. It definitely shows the force of the wind and those storm clouds look menacing.
It seems like the wind has been really bad this fall. At least at our place in the Springs it feels that way. There were several trees downed by the wind on Rampart Range road up and lots of broken branches.
What did you anchor the tripod with? I agree with Todd about the "glow" and capturing the wind is one of the most challenging situations - nice.

You know, it's not a stunning in-your-face fall shot, but when I think of fall, this is what I like imagining. A nice, cool, cloudy fall day with a crisp breeze... Okay, so it was closer to an F5 than a "breeze", but this feels like fall. Nice!

The effect on the trees are wonderful, I'm blown away by it!
