"Standing Tall"
Stanislaus River, Tuolumne County, California ~ July 2006
This photo was made last year while camping with Preston near Sonora Pass. Although the weather was rather severe - got hit by a couple of thunderstorms - I had a great time. I am currently working on the drum-scan in order to get it ready for printing. I am quite happy with what I have so far, but a few more tweaks might be necessary when I start making the test prints.
Let me know what you all think.
Regards.

Very cool shot Anil. Like the contrast of warm rocks and cool water, the prominence of the rocks gives a sense of almost a stubbornness to erode (although stubbornness may not be the right word). This one had my eyes going around for a while. At first I thought this was a cliff towering over the ocean - reading your description it took me a second for my eyes and mind to 'focus'. Love this effect.
Thanks for your thoughts on this one, Greg. I am glad that at least one person found it interesting enough to leave a comment. The sense of resistance to erosion is exactly what attracted me to this scene (and composition).

Anil, is this where the Clark Fork River pours under the bridge along the road just before you turn right out to Iceberg Meadow? In any case, it's a nice shot. I like your style of isolating elements of the larger landscape. In fact, I have thought about trying to emulate it but feel too guilty to actually do so...

Anil, you could clone in a tiny cliff diver on the brink of your "cliff" at right ready to swan dive off and it would look all too real like diving into a churning sea. ...David
Anil, this is gorgeous..love the color palette with the contrasting warm and cool colors.
It is difficult to get a sense of scale...it could easily be a 1,000' cliff with a churning sea below.
"Just Say No" to the cliff diver idea.

The seemingly lack of scale gives this a very abstract look which I like, along with excellent shutter speed to keep detail in the water blur. Nice.

David: Cloning in a diver is an interesting idea. Let me think about it some more.
