Yep that's what I did today.....I fear no rain...so I headed deep into the Coast Range Mountains to find virgin streams, creeks and waterfalls.. Found this one about 3 miles up one of the Coastal Rivers deep in a wooded area.....I could have spent all day here...the color has not quited turned yet.
I was trying different shutter speeds to see how it affects the texture and "thickness" of the water...
This was taken at F/8 for 1/6th of a second...
I am curious to hear your comments, critiques and suggestions about the water....Thanks....
Nice!! I've found my settings on 1/6s, too, for these kind of stream shots. I rather like the effect at around that speed. Enough softness, some nice texture. The image looks vignetted?

So what's your method for keeping the equipment protected from the rain?

... and I do like your water because you exposed long enough to soften, but still has some nice texture.

Nice stream shot, Darren, but I'd like to see the vignetting corrected, too. Makes it seem just a bit cramped.

I like this comp quite a bit Darren. I agree that I would remove the vignetting as well. And I can really fell the motion of th water at the shutter speed you used. It works well for this piece!

Nice composition with a wonderful flow, but I'd have to add my vote to the less vignetting crowd.

Thus far, the first one is the better of the two. Darkening the corners helps to draw attention to the creek. In the second shot, the whole scene seems to be the focal point and my eye can't really decide where to focus. I'd say go with the original, but bump the brightness up just a tad in the center 3/4 of the image.
