This is rather out of style for me but when I saw the shadows of these little flowers in the last golden light before the sun set I had see if I could do something with them. I tried adding lots of depth of field but it seemed too static and flat so went with really shallow dof. Looking at it now I should have plucked out the slightly out of focus flower just below the main flowers head. But anyway - does this work for anyone? Thanks, Tristan

Well this IS a big departure from the usual Tristan image - hang on whilst I pick myself up off the floor, these paradime shifts take it out of you when you get past 45 you know

It's gotta be a good image Tristan 'cos I don't know what to say

I like the low CT colours, I like the strong diagonal and I like the way the OoF shadows flow over the rock behind.
I don't know about the plucking the flower you mentioned - I might have been tempted to try and negate those bottom left corner ones that might lead the eye out of frame - but what would I know, I get a bit lost on abstracts

The OOF front flowers are a bit overpowering; a couple would be nice. This is the like of image that gets printed on a coffee shop wall or some trendy bouteque ( so my wife tells me  )

I like your thinking out of the box, and I judging on images you have on your web, this isn't that far from your style, except that you used flowers instead of humans for it.

I like idea, but would prefer less "near sharp" flowers and just one sharp one.

Cheers,
Marko

It has an almost lensbaby feel to it. I can appreciate the novel lighting and being drawn to it as the height of the shadows makes it an unusual set of conditions but as a interesting experiment I can say that this image does work, but does have limited or selective appeal.

I have often taken similar shots as it is best to act and then ponder about it later, like a whole array of abstract ice closeups which I shot when I was in Slovenia with Marko a few years ago. I personally like them but they are out of context with my usual shots. One of my friends thinks this is some of my best work, its very personal.
