I hope to be there but have my inevitable stupid question
Is the Pens Pond car park the one marked right next to the "Lawn Plantation" on the map on the link?
If you go to the Richmond park website (link above in Toms post) you will be able to download a pdf map of the park, Pen Ponds Car Park is the on noted by Adrian, right next to the Lawn Plantation.
Two easiest gates are Roehampton, (turn left when in the park) or Kingston (turn right when in the park)

Phil,
Thanks - just one other question - According to the link above the park will only open at 7:30 and I will probably be coming through the Richmond/Ham gate - I presume there are actual gates that shut before that time - is this correct? If so how long does it take to go from with of these gates to the car park?
I normally use Ham gate, it doesn't take long to get to the car park from either Richmond or Ham, just follow the roads round (remembering the 20mph speed limit in the park). You are right I had forgotten about the half hour later opening in winter, the times should have read 7.30ish for 8.00am...
All the best
Phil

Hope to make this event as well - Adrian car share seems somewhat sensible?
