This photo was taken from the driveway of my home. It is really bad here. I cannot even get to my office. A condo 1 block away from my office burned and the area is still under mandatory evacuations. I wanted to get this up to share with every one. It is not picture perfect, but you will get the idea.
Be really careful and stay away from the uncontrolled areas too, Sharon. This has turned out to be a very nonforgiving situation throughout So Cal right now. Good luck & stay safe for all who are being affected by these bad fire storms.

I know this might sound cynical, but maybe when the bulk of the fires have died down, some of us folks from LA and/or San Diego could plan a little day trip to photograph some of the burned out forests? I have always wanted to do this, and I suppose the opportunity is at hand.
Anyway, not to stray from your thread, I hope you and your loved ones are out of harms way!

When I saw the Title I KNEW it would be something like this....
Stay safe and leave if they tell you too !~!
I have heard that all 3 colleges there are closed for the week and the kids are flying home.
I have family down in the LA area and friends down there and so far they have been spared..
I grew up with the smoke of the Malibu fires and the Santa Ana's but this is ridiculous....
Makes one realize HOW precious every moment is....
God LOVE the unity and sanity of the folks down there!!
Kudos to everyone for pulling together!!

Sharon,
Stay safe and we all hope your not in the path of any of those fires. Tragic and sad what's happening.

I wanted to let everyone know that I am okay and to thank you for your thoughts and prayers. I live in the metropolitan San Diego area. The areas that are burning are the canyons and mountain areas. I found out that I will be able to go back to work tomorrow and I will be taking my camera. The area where I work, Rancho Bernardo, lost 280 homes. There are some high points that I may be able to get into without crossing any barracades and get some photos. I am in for the day trip.
