Cruised through Garden of the Gods today, hoping that all the great cottonwood color I was seeing around town found its way to the park. Nope! The scrub oak were a very boring shade of brown, and the cottonwoods looked terrible, sort of grayish-brown. No good color at all. Save yourself a trip, and wait for the trees to lose these ugly leaves once and for all, and for some fresh snow on the rocks.

I'm keeping the nice oaks in my backyard a few miles North  I've got nice yellows oranges and reds right now.

I shot a wedding in the Garden on October 13th and the Cottonwoods were still pretty green though alot of the other trees were taking some nice colors. I wonder if the snow storm just put the smack down on them. The cottonwoods in my neighborhood were at peak around the 13th.

North Cheyenne Canyon was looking nice last weekend for oaks, willows and cottonwoods and much of the brush in the canyon.
