I don't recall seeing a lot of stream shots from you Colorado boys, so here's one from back in 2005. (Brent this is for you!). I don't know that this little trickle has a name, but I liked the tiered cascade. I'm not digging the log across the scene, but them's the breaks.

I think the log does kill this, but the cascade is sweet as is the color.

John – I agree that the fallen tree being a bit distracting, but that is a great Colorado stream shot. I don’t see or take nearly as many stream shots as back in the Southeast. I guess they are not as common or scenic out here.

Personally I really like this, the fallen tree doesn't bother me one ioda, and in fact I quite like it. Excellent composition and some stunning color

Where's PS's downed-tree removal tool when you need it?

Thanks for the comments guys. John, I agree there is something still attractive about the scene.

Todd, I was thinking after the fact that I could try shooting one shot from a higher vantage point and the other from a lower vantage point, then merge them together without the log. Maybe one of the digital guys will have to give it a try.

For what it's worth, I think the attractive part of the scene is from the curved aspen trunk on the right forward. The downed tree and sunlit trees in the back just aren't needed. It's a gorgeous scene, there's just too much shown here. Just trying to help......

Todd, the tool is called a chainsaw! Ooops, did I say that?

Reminds me of the time a friend and I "opened" the road up to South Colony Lakes one late spring. Had to remove about an 18"-diameter aspen tree and spent a couple hours removing a 40'-long snow drift - but we were the first ones up there that year!

-Does- help to have the right tools with you!

Yeah, I'd crop to just below the downed tree and you still have a beautiful photograph. Nice find, John
