The landscape of southern Harris is a desolate, almost lunar like landscape. I found it very challenging to make any kind of composition out of the randomly scattered rocks and boulders. Jumping between the boulders in the dark to avoid the bogs and watching the sunrise all add up to a morning which I'll never forget. The image just doesn’t do justice to this beautiful morning. Looks like a great sunrise. But as you say, difficult to get a 'winning' composition with scenes like this.
I think you've done about as well as could be expected! The fall off of light is a bit too extreme IMO - is this 'as shot' or has it been darkened using the lens correction facility in PS?

Well I think you have done a great job, the composition works very well, it does look a little dark on the sides but that almost adds to the appeal. Great colours and a baron mood.
I fell down a pothole in these conditions once with a fully loaded backpack and I swear I was going to break my kneecap, falling forwards against the joint with a straight leg...errgh!
Thanks - the is very close to the raw shot regarding the light falloff. It has just had some small localised contrast boosts but I unusually refrained from adding my usual vignetting. The landscape here is naturally very dark and this is looking down into a steep slope and towards some small backlit hills so the light simply was not reaching most of the mid ground.
Dark and moody as one should expect from you! The sky is to die for and light fall of is helping viewer to concentrate on bright part.
I'm not to keen to the foreground, but on the other hand it's showing landscape of the place. So all in all it's pleasant photo to look at.
Dave, that sound nasty not to mention the first hand (leg) experience! While walking to/from location I would never make a step without head lamp as my right knee is suffering already even without additional slips.
Cheers,
Marko

Well I'd be very happy with it if I'd taken it
I understand what you mean about the landscape from a comp point of view but I do believe in an accurate portrail of whats' in front of the lens - and this you've acheived to perfection

That sounds a nasty fall Dave!
