Another Early Morning Red Deer
Not the classic silhouettes we've been seeing on here, but an early misty morning shot from Richmond last week.

Not sure about this one - at times I like it (I know I did when I took it) and at others I'm just not sure but can't put my finger on it: interested in others opinions.

Thanks

Mark

Its the virtual legs I think Mark, tilting down a bit so there is room in frame for the legs, even though they are hidden in the grass, would make all the difference. Other than that I think its a fine, nicely lit and atmospheric shot.

I do like the atmospheric setting and think the image works well.

Perhaps a little more room on the bottom of the frame as already stated would be ideal.

Mark - lovely atmospheric shot :toast:

The one big nit as already been covered - is there any more at the bottom of the frame?

Hi Mark

Agree with Nigel but still a nice atmospheric image!

Thanks for the feeedback - it is indeed the bottom of the frame that's the problem now you've commented on it, and because the stag is actually lying down in the long grass so that it's not apparent that he isn't standing it explains my unease with the image yet why I felt it was ok at the time of taking.

A nice image Mark and I too would prefer some virtual leg room :toast:

I dont care about 'virtual legs'. The deer head and antler profile is fabulous, and very ancient, brilliantly framed by the dry drass and over head trees. What I dont like is how the foreground branches have blurred at this aperture - its very distracting. Also the mist ruins the contrast - it makes it look like you've got a foggy lens.

Otherwise I really do like this shot! Well done.
