Newlin Creek
A terrific little trail in the nrn Wet Mountains, close enough that even on a workday i found time to do the 6 mile hike plus a few photos (well, i had to run the return trip!) Just couldnt pass up the fabulous weather. Here's the creek.

The highlite of the trip is the old logging operations at the end, remanants of steam boilers and flywheel that were brought up the hand-built road in the 1880s. The owner who started the sawmill operation promptly died and the road, cabin, and boilers were left to be reclaimed by ma nature. I love the lichen on the wheel.
