I just had a week down in Arches and Canyonlands with a friend from Loveland Photographic Society and was able to explore lots of remote canyons. Lots of long days of hiking and climbing the fins. Culmination was the sight of a mountain lion in broad daylight last Monday as we were hiking out, first time for me.

Awesome collection, Bill: my favs were word in your ear, standing gaurd, spooky, and Cottonwood canyon. Ive only seen one wild lion too, so i understand the thrill! Youve got me psyched to get back to the canyons this winter.

I like "Death and Decay" and "Interesting?!" a lot. I also like "Cottonwood Canyon," both for comp and subject matter.

Snake Trail is absolutely fantastic - I love the way the snake's trail gets tighter and tigher the nearer it gets to the kangaroo rat trail! That shot tells a great story, one that is well-complimented by the shadows.
Although I've spent many hours analyzing various lizard trails for interesting patterns in that soft sand, I've never seen anything like that before.
Very, very well done!
Oh yeah - Shadow and Spooky are also really terrific shots.

John, sorry no pics of the lion, too fascinating and too fast!
We had packed to hike back to the car (exhausted after a long day) and were surprized to see him, of course! Moral is, always have your camera at the ready!
