I dropped by several points along the Buffalo this weekend, and as you might have expected, the color is beginning to show here and there but is far from predominating.

If the weather forecast for the coming week is right and we get sunny days and cool nights, the colors ought to be making a pretty good splash by next weekend, though.

Randy, thanks for the update. I'm surprised that you didn't hook up with the rest of the CSNP gang down on Richland Creek this weekend. Had I been feeling up to it, I'd have made the 350 drive down there for sure. But judging from this image anyway, there may be even better color next weekend.

Not feeling up to snuff this week may have been the best thing for you, Wayne. I think next week will definitely be a better bet, although, who knows, when the Richland Creek gang starts posting, we may both wish we had been there.

I went out again this morning and found some nice color in the Steele Creek area; so it goes to show that you never know. But even there the color should be better next week.

The upper Buffalo area is good for me because even with a stop in Elkins to gas up I can be rolling through Boxley Valley an hour and 15 minutes after stepping out my front door, and this week there was the added bonus of heavy fog there Saturday and Sunday.

Nice work, Randy. Looks like the view from Ponca bridge.

The color has left something to be desired, but maybe it will improve during the week.

Bill, it would be the view from the Ponca low water bridge except that Junie and I usually have more fun when we splash around in the water some. So this was taken from upstream a little bit in middle of the river, which is about ankle deep right now.

I'm really optimistic that we'll see fall turning in a hurry now that we're getting the cool nights combined with sunny days.

Randy nice image and thanks for the update. Maybe I'll have time to make it up toward the buffalo this fall.

Thanks, Gale. It's really starting to feel like fall; so maybe that's a good sign that soon it'll finally start looking like fall as well.
