Fly Agaric
Hi to all,

Fly Agaric , photographed at Potteric Carr nature reserve yesterday.

I have to say that fungi and the like don't really float my boat , so when we went for walk round Potteric looking for the above I didn't bother taking my camera , so thanks to Glyn for the use of his 5D and Sigma 180 , I think these shrooms and stools are starting to grow on me , not literally of course

Levels , Usm(150,1.0,1 x2) , Contrast , Brightness , slight Sat , Cropped for comp.

Canon 5D , Sigma 180mm , Man055ProB w/ 322RC Ball head , r/r
1/5th @ F11 iso200 jpeg

All comments welcome ( Any thoughts on the comp would be appreciated )

Kind regards

Andy...

On my calibrated monitor the image is a little too warm and needs a white balance adjustment but otherwise this is a nice shot considering the busy background and surroundings you have captured it in. Try an even longer focal length if you have a bigger lens, or perhaps a 2x converter and the Sigma 180 as this will help isolate it more.

Nice to see another without bits of crud welded to it

Nice one Andy :toast:

As an id shot comp works as well as it could but PhilHs' post sort of takes them to another level - (note to self: must try harder)!!

Composition works fine for me although I might be inclined to crop a fraction off of the bottom of the image, just enough to lose the green leaf in the bottom left corner, not crucial but I think it would strengthen the image slightly.

Agree with all of the above!
I like the shot though.

I agree that it's a bit warm, but I'm impressed that you've found an unblemished one - mine always have chunks taken out. Getting fungi is one of my aims this autumn - I hadn't tried it before. It's a lot harder than it looks!

Nice specimen... perhaps a touch central, personally the slight warmth isn't a problem.
