A very fine scene here, Preston. I agree with your comment with regard to the small collection of these rock and foliage sites. They can be very special. The color and detail in this is right on, and I also like the small amount of creek or stream bed included in this nice scene too.

Preston,
Like Cory, this certainly brings me right back to our visit to the Sonora Pass. This is a remarkably accurate rendition of the region and wonderfully composed. I can still feel the conditions as we waited for the clouds to whip on by and for the wind to stop, but for just a second.
I for one and am glad you're behind! Cause now I get to revisit a great summer trip to the Sierra.
Beautiful shot Preston.

Preston, very nice. I like the composition, and the colors of the lupines and green against the rock.
I always enjoy stumbling upon these little hidden treasures...nice find and great capture.

Great look here, definitely worth a nice sized print.

That's a pretty good subject representing such summer peak wildflower periods in our Central Sierra. Some of the best displays are usually in or near volcanic areas like the granite streambed in your pic. Those big lupines dominate such areas along with areas of red painbrushes. I enjoy parking at prospective places at such small streams along our highways and then rambling crosscountry up such drainages looking for something worthy. Thus far have only a pretty good mix of results myself though know one day will stumble onto something special. ...David

Just lovely Preston...
One of my favorite flowers also...
Have you ever spent a few hours in a field of lupine??
I'll have to remember where to go to celebrate my Bday next year!
Keep the memories coming....

8 repliesI have always admired these 'Sierra Rock Gardens', so I was pleased to have gotten this image during a brief lull in windy conditions.
