Hi
Ive recently starting shooting with my 5d set on Raw+jpg, instead of just RAW.

Problem is.. i cant see the raw files..only the jpgs when pulling them off the camera.

There should be 2 files i thought? Or is the jpg embedded in the raw? If so i shouldnt see the jpg?

Do i need the canon software to grab the files..can not CS2 grab these files.. i usually pull of raws using explorer instead of the canon utility. I would of thought i could see them in windows explorer when browsing to the camera.

Is there a problem with my camera?

Please help
Thank you!
Steve

First of all, there *must* be two files for each image, the raw-file and the jpg-file.
As far as I know, windows-explorer recognizes everything that is on a memory card - even if the format as such cannot be opened, but data and files are recognized and hence should be transferable.
However, if I remember correctly I had the following experience when shooting raw+jpg: Once the camera is plugged in and windows scans for something it knows - it's obviously the jpg-files on the card - one then gets this pop-up with the question if one wants to copy the files to a folder, or burn a cd or open the files with an image editing-program. But by this process, only the jpg's are treatened. Maybe that's what you did?
I am not sure íi that helped or created more confusion... sorry.
Anyway, if explorer does not even list the files when the drive is accessed - then there is something wrong i guess.
Do you have another digicam that takes the same type of card? You might try to access the files by using the memory card in another camera. This once helped me to get raw-files from a card that where shot with my 5D, however explorer refused to display the list of files. So I used my old olympus prosumer. Afterwards I got rid of that one memory card - not of my 5D.

Steve, your problem may disappear if you plop down $20 for a memory card reader. Plugs into a usb or firewire port on your computer. Insert your CF card and, once the icon pops up on your screen, simply drop and drag the image files off the card and into a desktop folder. Much, much faster transfer rate than plugging the camera in using the cord, too.

I can't see my raw files either, only jpeg. The raw files are only visible in Photoshop.
