Nice one David! Great light, perfect catch eye and nice environment. What more could one ask for??

Well done!!

the light and dof are really nice. If this were mine, I might try to seperate the fowl with the lily pads by making the pads more green than yellow. Just a thought to play with.

Super photo David. The light and color are beautiful. Your exposure is spot on and the crisp detail of the feathers is sweet!

to Rick Lundh: yeah, in the original, the lily pads are really green and this looks much better. the jpg translation leaves a lot to be desired. When I look at this in PS3 as a jpeg, it is really green. Online, it fades. What gives?!? I even tried to oversaturate the image in PS as a tiff just to get better NPN coverage but no change. I think I am in the right color space (sRGB or should I switch to adobe RGB 1998) or maybe I am spaced out. Any suggestions?

Excellent shot David, the surrounding lily pads really add to the grebe. My only nit is that the photo is too yellow for me.

If you have a large difference between Photoshop and your browser, I would still be suspicious of a color space issue. When I copy your photo into Photoshop on my computer and assign an sRGB profile, it looks the same as it does in my browser. If you haven't double checked, you can File>File Info>Camera Data 2 in Photoshop and be sure the file is in sRGB.

I tell you David, after seen some of your shots with that 500mm, I may have to invest in some sort of long lens. Cool shot. (I take this was shot with your 500mm)

this was shot with the 500 plus a 1.7 telextender. 125th sec, f6.7, D2X, about 40% of original image.
so that gives a 1300mm equivalent, considering the APS format. Gitzo tripod, wimberly head.
