You lookin' at me?
Thanks everyone who commented on my previous fishy post, much apprciated

Here's one I processed this evening. Not sure what to call this fella, I've ordered a fish identification book from Amazon as I've quite alot to put names to! Anyway this fish was very interested in me and made several of what I can only describe as lunges towards my mask turning away at the last moment  This was taken during one such charge! Actually it was whilst I was concentrating on him that I brushed up against and got stung on both arms by a jellyfish...not recomended!

Thanks

Paul

Nice image, looks like a Sohal (Acanthurus sohal) which I think is found in the Red Sea and Western Indian Ocean..

He's one of those coral crunchers with chops like that isn't he Paul - wouldn't like to get a nip of him

Was he trying to chase off his own reflection in your mask

Nice one... like the movement in the pectoral fins....

Fresh tomato is good for jellyfish stings

hi paul,

i love these fish. very beautiful. i like your UW images. the sargeat major image is lovely and clean.

your doing especially well considering your gear and that your snorkelling. excellent.

where are you based in the UK? i'm on the isle of wight if you fancy coming and doing your course in this neck of the woods (hey like in real mans water none of that nonsey red sea swimming pool stuff). only joking. your not a real man until you've dived in scotland. so that counts me out hehe.

i'm going to be doing some UW photo courses next summer here too so maybe you want to come along for those too.

anway, if you get to do any more images before hand, try to see if you can drop your ev down a bit, maybe one or 2 thirds, that will give your water a much more inviting blue feel to it, making for a more pleasing bg.

lets see some more.

Hi Mark, thanks for the exposure tip. I live on Guernsey so I'm not that far from you. For all the times I've done the crossing to the south coast I've never once visited the IoW. We have 2 dive course operators here on the island and I'm hoping if all goes well I will do my course early next year, probably early Spring. I say if all goes well because (long story very short..) I suffer from an eye condition called Graves, or rather I have done for the last 6 years but after a series of operations all seems ok now . Anyway no one, not even Moorfields Eye Hospital where I visit regularly, can give me a definate answer that scuba diving will have no ill effect on my eyes, the pressure is what I think they're concerned about? I shall check once again on my next hospital visit in a couple of weeks time but I'm guessing the only way I'll really know is to actually try it  Even if I'm limited to say 10 or 12 meters that would be fine by me.

If all goes well I'd love to maybe pop over for those UW photo courses you mention, if/when you get chance please email me any info you might have.

Thanks once again

Paul

PS. I shall have a good look at your website tomorrow on my lunch break.
