First Trip to Smokies - Shout Out to Richard
Props to Richard for a terrific time on my first trip to the Smokies. I had a blast, and I hope Richard did, too.

In addition to the great photo ops, we met Jerry Greer and Bill Lea. We also happened upon Tim Fitzharris, who Richard recognized maybe five minutes after I mentioned how much I like Tim's work.

When I asked Tim for his secret, he said, "Duct tape." And I have the pic to prove it...available upon request.

This shot of Little Pigeon River is one of my favorites. The wind was blowing, so some of the leaves on top appear blurry.

I posted another one in ESS and the rest of them on my site. If you have the patience, please take a look and let me know your favorite.

Yo Richard, thanks for a cool trip.

Here is yours truly with Lance's hero, TF. As you can see by his body language, he is hoping that if he ignores us both, we will go away. He is also photographing a tremendous 8-foot ball of foam at the base of a small cascade - sure to show up in the next Audubon Society wall calendar.

Nice use of "BBB" technique, Lance. :toast:

Lance,
Very nice sunny day image! Hard to do IMO. Sounds like a GREAT time. You should have asked Bill Lea if he uses duct tape also for his awesome whitetail shots
Everyone: Definitley check out Lance's website! He does alot of sunnyday shots very well.

I know you all had a great time, who wouldn't up that way. I will be headed up to Cades Cove and other areas of interest in the Smokes on Nov. 11 for a 2week tour. Then hope to catch a good snow around Jan. or Feb. up that way. Great country for photographing. Great shot Lance. I will check out the other photos on your web site.

Hey Lance glad you had a great time. One little minor nit pick about the second photo I think you took and Richard posted. I think it would be improved by cropping out the car on the right and that guy with his arms crossed looking at the camera. :jump:

I luv your suggestion Mike, but when I started the crop, the previously mentioned foam ball suddenly came into the frame, took on a life of its own, started to grow, and freaked me out!

Just a comment on TF, I have a couple of his books and he's technically very, very good, but a lot of those colors with the tinted grads are - well - unbelievable. I've seen as good and better on SENP and earth. Sea, and Sky. no disrespect to TF, but lay off the "habanero filters".

Cheers,

Steve
