More western Kansas color
I've also been enjoying seeing the pics of your get together in Arkansas but like Rob, I went west to Clark County. This is from the area around Clark County Lake. I used PTGUI to stitch together two shots. I like the way it turned out except I wish the sky had some better color. The trees were just starting to turn but the grasses were a great red. Thanks for looking.

Interesting looking area, I think I need to add it to the list of places to visit. I love the ground, but the sky is pretty bright. Would a crop without most of the sky work? The detail in the ground is great though.

Very scenic place Ken and I love this comp! It seems to go on forever. Did you try using any filtration on the sky? I would love to get to see this area someday. Man, I've got to get out west and soon! Thanks for sharing ... the landscape is wonderful!

This is really beautiful work, Ken. The temperature of the light and the detail are fantastic. A graduated neutral density filter would have helped a bunch to hold down the exposure of the sky, or you could have taken two shots - one exposed for the sky and another exposed for the rest of the image and blended them together. Very nice! :toast:

There's some great details in the valley, Ken. As you've indicated, the sky is an issue - neutral density graduated filters would take care of that, as would several more images exposed for the sky.

Thanks for all your suggestions and comments. I always carry ND filters but haven't gotten in the habit of using them in situations like this. This is a good reminder. Anyway, I went back to my raw files and was able to get a little better color from the sky and then did a blended exposure.
