In case you're wondering...
what fall colors in Moab look like right now, here's a peek. After spending this fall exploring canyons and plateaus I've never hiked I've decided that Moab should be up there with the San Juans and Zion NP for fall color destination photography. I'm seriously considering putting together a fall color workshop next year. The cottonwoods, tamarisk, rabbitbrush and oak are just too good to keep to myself.

Bret, the colors really look vibrant! I think that a fall color workshop in Moab is a great idea. I am sure it will be a success for you. Especially, when people see your shots!
Thanks for the updates!

No kidding these colors look vibrant. They contrast well with the greens. Like the layers in this one Bret. Well done. :toast:

Brett, You should definitely consider a photographing MOAB book. While your at it, include Southern Utah.

Ed: Have you seen Laurent Martres' "Photographing the Southwest: Volume 1-Southern Utah" book? He does a pretty good job of covering the major areas. I wonder if a book of the lesser known but equally beautiful places around Moab would do well. Hmmm...

Great shot, Bret. Very nice color and contrasts!
I've been looking for the Volume 1 Martres book, I sure like Volume 2!

Heck with the workshops, write a photography guide to the area with times to be there, what lens to use, and how to best frame the images

Sweeeeet!

After my move to GJ I'll have the West Elks and San Juans 1.5 hrs. or so south and Moab an hour or so to the west - not a bad situation!

Sweet shot, Bret. Man, I wish I could get over there for a long weekend. Gotta start working on the fiancee!
