If anyone stumbles across an old nikon 400mm f3.5 MF going nice and cheap in the UK, could you kindly tip me off .
There is a couple on ebay at this moment, but by the time import taxes are added etc, i would probably be paying over the odds {and am not going to bid on them}.
I am more than happy with my 2.8 version, apart from the weight, and the 3.5 would probably suit me better as an all-round/all purpose tele for my usual stomping grounds/situations, and would also allow me a hand-holding option for the occasional flight shot {my 2.8 version is just too heavy/clumsey for me for regular bif shooting situations }.
Thanks!!

I have a Nikon 300 F2.8 ED IF MF lens with hard case and original front protective UV filter plus the 301 matched 2x tc (the one recommended for these MF lenses inc the 400 f3.5) if you are interested - I used this kit on the Oly E zuiko system but have now recently upgraded - all clean and good condition

Thanks for that Mike,
I particulary want a 400mm {already own an AF 300mm f4 for bif shots}.
The reach of my present 400mm is obviously fine for hide type stuff {as i usually have a degree of control over the shooting distances etc} and general stalking {with tc's}, however lugging my 400mm/2.8 plus my 300mm to my local coast is becoming a bit too much of a struggle.
I'm reluctant to leave my 400mm at home {and just take my 300mm} when heading to my coast, as you can bet a situation will arise that will require the 400mm, so the lighter 400/3.5 would fit the bill perfectly for me.
I find that i do need about 600mm for flight shots on my coast {as my 300mm + 1.4 only gives me very limited opportunities}. Although a MF300/2.8 + x2 would give me that reach, it would not give me an AF option, whereas the 400/3.5 + my tc-16a would give me both.
Bearing in mind that my d2h does not have much cropping ability {4mp}, i reckon the 3.5 version is probably the ideal lens for me personally.........lightish, and using my 1.6tc, a very useful AF640mm/f5.6 combo.
If i can track one down, i will likely get rid of my 400/2.8 and 300/f4, and keep life simple.
Thanks very much though

Nicholas Camera Company are listing one on their website Alan, for £1695, seems a bit pricey but as I found these lenses appear to be rarer than rocking horse ....Ffordes used to have several but alas none at the moment
