Spooktacular Sunset
Hi all! I'm a newly registered member of this fine community and look forward to sharing information and images with ya'all. I'm a recent transplant to Bayfield, CO from Minnesota (as those of you from the NPC forum already know) and I'm having a blast investigating and photographing my new surroundings.

In addition to saying hello, I thought I'd share the rather stunning sunset I had the pleasure to witness last night. This was courtesy of a late day storm that moved across the mountains behind the Vallecito Reservoir. It was a halloween treat for sure!

Welcome to the madness, Guy. Gorgeous light in the image. I might have moved forward a bit to eliminate the stump on the far right but it's still a very pretty image. Nice work!

Nice sunset. There was some good potential here in the Springs, but it didn't materialize as far as I know.

Welcome!! Great Sunset Guy. I'm from Minnesota myself. I travel to Colorado all the time through this forum looking at everyone's great pictures. I hope to make it back out to the San Juan's in July for wildflowers next year.

Glad to have you join us Guy. Always good to have someone down in that neck of the woods to keep tabs on it for the rest of us stuck in Denver. Judging from you web site you have been traveling outside of MN for quite some time. Some great images in your collection and I'm sure you will be adding many more...

Cool shot! I'm not wild about the foreground stuff, but the specta -- oops, I mean spooktacular -- light in the sky makes up for it in spades.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. The scenery here is gonna keep me busy for years to come! Bret, Todd...I agree with ya on the foreground. I had just finished hiking in the Vallecito Creek gorge when I noticed what was about to happen. Didn't have a good chance to figure out where to go for a better composition. As it was I should've gotten a speeding ticket or two getting to this location!

Welcome, neighbor!
If you ever want to go shooting in the Utah/Arizona area, give me a holler.

Welcome Guy! I'm a recent transplant from MN too (Walnut Grove). I'm having a blast wandering around the mountains... Great color in your shot! There are some terrific places here in Colorado.

There was another gorgeous sunset last night viewable from Loveland (and I imagine over the entire northeastern part of the state). Didn't get any shots of it (no good comps from where I live) but it sure was beautiful to stare at!

Thanks John and Arlen. I've been quite surprised at the number of MN ties I've encountered both on the forums and when wandering about. Pretty cool!

John, I just may take you up on your offer at some point. I definitely want to get out that way more often.

Last night I really wished I had a camera, with that gorgeous lenticular-like cloud strung along the Front Range and Plains from Golden to Greeley (or so it seemed).

This image has some great color; I agree, I would have probably sidled up to the stump for a better FG, but nonetheless a great introduction. Welcome!
