The color started to make a major move in the Buffalo River drainage today - some mighty spectacular color is happening right now - it will probably go fast. While hauling 11,000 pounds of the new waterfall picture book back from the trucking company this afternoon I stopped along the road near our cabin to take a few snaps of my favorite stand of maples. I only had my "snapshot" camera with me so decided to make a few zoomed shots the old fashioned way (long exposure while zooming the lens). The color was pretty good, with the trees backlit and a few shafts of sunshine breaking through, however I have no clue where the other colors came from in this image - I shot 97 of them before my card got full. No post processing done at all - this is straight out of the camera. Could some of the colors that were blurred mix together to create these colors?

Dude, this is way cool! I have no clue on the color question, but this shot makes me think of "walk toward the light". Awesome effect Tim!

That's really cool! I think you must be right about the colors combining to make new ones - it makes sense, anyway. Did you do that hand-held??? It really pays to keep a camera handy!

Yes, hand held. I just ran out into the forest and started shooting, bang, bang, bang, zooming in and out, changing the exposure, pointing in different directions. Since there is nothing sharp in the image anyway a tripod was not needed. One other item I find interesting is that the zoomed color is in front of some of the trees but behind some of the others - I don't have a clue. Man if I only knew about all of this wild color stuff in high school when I could appreciate it all!

"far out" , Tim, you will get the message, I am not sure the younger set will?

That's really cool, Tim. There are a lot of things in the frame that make me wonder about why it turned out like that...kind of like tie-dye with a camera

weirdly beautiful, Tim

Very nice.
A clue about the light differences. The zoom did not move the two trees in the middle where the light is blocked?

You're always so creative, I love looking at your work because you have so much passion for photography and you like to experiment. This is awesome!

I love this kind of stuff Tim. I haven't done much of it since going digital. Its so hit and miss I bet doing it with digital helps a ton. Great stuff
